Volunteer Coordinator/Visitor Experience Management
-
Mar 2016 - Present
As a non-profit museum having volunteers is vital to keep the museum running smoothly. As the volunteer coordinator, I schedule all volunteers, create the duties and tasks that they need to perform while volunteering. I also set up interviews with volunteers, go to recruitment fairs to attain new volunteers. I also perform evaluations of volunteers and do any background checks needed. As the volunteer coordinator I oversee any big volunteer events that may be going on in the area or at the center, so I assist students, retirees, and any other volunteers in helping to perform group volunteer activities or community service through the Discovery Center. As visitor experience management, I schedule all regular floor staff and resolve any conflicts or issues that they may have. I train any new staff members on there duties and tasks that must be done on a daily basis, I also help work the front desk and registration. With this I check visitors in, handle cash, checks, credit card transactions, I also help visitors with any questions they may have in person or over the phone. I book any events, such as birthday parties, or rentals of out space. Furthermore I run the gift shop at the center, so I do a weekly inventory of the products, I do the ordering of new products that we may need, I also do all the billing and invoices that we receive through this. Moreover I order any operational items we may need such as janitorial supplies and paper products. With this job I "wear many hats" and have a lot of tasks that I do but I love it and really enjoy working with a non-profit and helping out the community this way.

While working at this hotel I have spent most of it at the front desk, here I check guests in and out, make reservations, charge accounts, take care of billing questions, meet all guests needs, among any other tasks that may arise. I have also been trained to work in the restaurant that is onsite here in the hotel. I have worked as a server, room service, cocktail waitress, and bartender.
