Stays abreast of the most current trends in YA fiction and nonfiction, and utilizes Collection HQ for collection management.-Member of the San Jose Public Library’s 5forU team, an online e-mail reference service, where patrons can request 5 titles based on previous reading habits and preferences.-Contributor to the San Jose Public Library’s Blog Team. Responsible for writing blogs covering literary trends, including The Best Books We Read staff series and Hair Down, Glasses Off: The Best New Romance series. Outreach and System-Wide Events-Delivers community focused, technology based outreach on the Maker[Space]Ship, a mobile makerspace which works to overcome access barriers in San Jose. Reaching over 300 students and residents monthly throughout San Jose.-Organized outreach for the 2015 Big Wow! Comic Con, a two-day event reaching over 1,000 people.-Led the system-wide events such as the 9th Annual Battle of the Bands and 9th Annual Graphic Novel Making Contest. Competitions that drew hundreds of participants from throughout San Jose. -Developed technology based onsite outreach, which taught over 150 seniors how to use e-readers, including services such as OverDrive and Axis 360. Programs and Instruction-Developed and implemented the Berryessa Seed Library at the Berryessa Branch Library, where patrons may choose seasonal seeds for their own home gardens and learn about local gardening.-Oversaw and responsible for more than 50 teen volunteers during branch tenure, including development of all volunteer training, teen led programs, Summer Reading volunteer schedules and retention, and teen advisory board.-Presented at national and state level conferences, teaching library professionals about technology based outreach.
