Research Project: "Post-transcriptional regulation of HIV-1 gene expression by the host factor MATR3”. Laboratory of Molecular Virology. Aim: investigate the role of the host factor MATR3 in the post-transcriptional steps of HIV-1 replication. The project is based on two main objectives: I) assess the role of MATR3 during viral replication in acute infection and II) investigate the role of MATR3 in the establishment and maintenace of viral latency. Nov 2010 - Mar 2013
Laboratory training for master degree thesis: “Pathogenic role of HIV-1 gp41”. Experimental retrovirology and non-human primate models division. Aim: investigate the contribution of the different domains of HIV-1 Envelope protein gp41 to the infectious process through the creation of viral chimeras and the analysis of their infectivity and sensitivity to antiretroviral drugs and neutralizing antibodies. Oct 2008 - Jan 2009
Laboratory training for bachelor degree thesis: “Loss of acetylation homeostasis during neurodegenerative conditions and possible implications of Histone Deacetylase Inhibitors”. Laboratory of Neurochemistry. Aim: analyze the role of Histone Acetyltransferases (HATs) and Histone Deacetylase (HDACs) in regulating genic expression and evaluation of acetylation imbalance in neurodegenerative disorders; examine therapeutic potential of histone deacetylase inibitors (HDACi) in the treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis.
