I supported research, grant administration and management, and outreach programmes of projects led by the Experimental Marine Ecology Lab (EMEL) at NUS. Topics range from coral communities, paleoecology, seawall ecology and eco-engineering. I am personally involved with research related to paleoecology of our Singapore reefs. Investigating how old they are and trying to recreate past communities with a focus on the molluscan community. My past research interest revolves around the ecology and conservation of the charismatic giant clams. Focusing on anthropogenic stresses (e.g. sedimentation and coastal eutrophication, etc.), I investigate the impacts on and resilience of these critically endangered clams. As a research assistant of the Giant Clam Project, my responsibilities includes the management and care of the giant clam hatchery located at the Tropical Marine Science Institute, NUS. Our team continuously engage in giant clam spawning and culture with the hope of restocking the threatened giant clam population in the coral reefs of Singapore. Show less
