Amber is a hard worker with an insatiable curiosity about the world around her. When I studied with her, she had a real knack for explaining complicated concepts, and always went above and beyond to make sure that everyone (students, colleagues, random strangers..) was able to grasp the research at hand. I would recommend Amber for anything involving chemistry, or involving explaining scientific ideas to others.

Demonstrated collaboration skills, working with Sonata Biosciences to develop a diagnostic platform for low abundance proteins, yielding 1 publication, 2+ NIH grants, and 1 patent application filed. Creative innovation, optimizing assay conditions for DNA and RNA aptamer use in surfactant solutions, permitting effective specific small-molecule detection in complex environments. Excellent problem-solving abilities exhibited through the customization of molecular biology techniques for compatibility with surfactant solutions resulting in successful DNA amplification for aptamer selection. Analytical skills strengthened by observing the conditions under which DNA-polymer conjugates form stable micelles to control molecular guest release. Motivated independent researcher, creating stable PNA-DNA-Gold nanoparticle conjugates for the quantitative detection of target nucleic acid sequences. Product and market knowledge gained by working with sales representatives to select the best product for our program and obtain quotes, decreasing expenses up to 20%. General Chemistry I & II, Fundamentals of Chemistry Discussion and Lab Effective group communication developed through teaching discussion and review sessions for increased student understanding of complex scientific ideas. Conflict resolution skills gained by helping students work through disagreements in a laboratory setting to complete their experiments. Demonstrated time management to teach students laboratory techniques, help each group complete the experiment, and analyze the results within the allotted time frame. Show less
