Amber Garrison Duncan brings a passion for connecting the dots to everything she does. When I was a strategy director, Amber diligently worked to draw from the conceptual work she was leading to develop learning frameworks to inform the on-the-ground efforts I was leading to accelerate development of competency-based education models on campus and online at a wide array of colleges and universities. She later led a strategy that brought those efforts even closer together. Amber's new role will place her nearer to the beating heart of these activities as a leader with the Competency-Based Education Network, which she helped to launch during her time at the foundation. It was a privilege to work with Amber, and I wish her the very best in all she does.

I've had the pleasure to work with Amber as a colleague in the philanthropic field for more than three years. During her time at the Lumina Foundation, she created and led one of the most innovative portfolios in the philanthropic sector, bringing together two totally different industries (higher education and data & tech) for the benefit of learners. Her ability to see points of leverage and bring together funders across the field are incomparable. I learned so much from working with her and would look for any excuse to be able to plot and plan with her again! I could not recommend her more highly. Above all else, she is a fabulous human.
