Reviewing and summarizing medical records, coding various surgical procedures with CPT and ICD-10, obtaining authorizations, direct patient care, assisting surgeons, and triaging patient concerns are just some of my responsibilities throughout the day. I also work in the surgical department which involves scheduling surgical inpatient/outpatient procedures and pain management injection as well as managing schedules and preoperative clearances. My office implemented a new EMR system 3 years ago and I was a clinical trainer for my office during go-live and continue to be involved with staff when issues arise. Show less

Medical charts were reviewed and summarized daily with presentation to the physician, both written and verbal. Assisted with surgery scheduling, authorizations, medical coding, triaging patient calls, and medical documentation in EMR system. I often worked independently to complete time sensitive tasks. I was also the team leader for my department and the liaison between management and staff. Weekly meetings with management which involved assisting with updates to policy and procedures as well as weekly meetings with my department. I was responsible for department concerns, weekly staff schedules, approval of PTO, and new employee training. I worked with the committee during transition from paper charting to EMR systems. This involved multiple meetings with various departments pitching ideas and creating policies.
