I had the honor of working with AnnMarie Barenchi while she was the Events Board Coordinator at North Seattle College. Based on my observations and interactions with Barenchi as a fellow Student Leader, I can confidently assert that she would be an asset to any organization. Though her qualities are multitudinous, I would like to highlight the following: • An effective communicator in both written and public speaking settings • A skilled researcher and interviewer • An organized personnel manager and event planner As Events Board Coordinator at North Seattle College, Barenchi maintained regular communications via email, report, and formal meetings with her board members, advisors, and staff & faculty involved with her work. Barenchi also wrote regular articles for the Student Newsletter, participated in open-forums and other events on campus. Barenchi was also a finalist at a presentation competition at UW-Bothell’s Diversity & Inclusion Conference. At the conference, Barenchi presented North’s Toilets4All initiative--an initiative to increase campus safety and inclusion of LGBTQ+ and gender non-conforming individuals by introducing multi-stall all-gender restrooms. Much of Barenchi’s success in her roles as student journalist and public speaker yield from her careful research and interviewing skills. Barenchi’s in depth research of the campus’s history and her detailed, yet considerate interviews enabled her to pen enlightening and interesting articles for the Student Newsletter. These skills also served her well in her role as a Toilets4All advocate where she used her skills to sift through complicated survey data, review state and local legal codes, as well as gather testimonials from students, staff & faculty, and community members. Balancing these duties as Events Board Coordinator, student journalist, and advocate required an organized collaborative management style. Barenchi frequently reached out to her board members and other Student Leaders to facilitate organized and efficient execution of our organization’s goals. Barenchi lead Event Board meetings and delegated tasks to her members according to their strengths. Regardless of where life takes her, I am confident that AnnMarie Barenchi will be successful in her endeavors and be a major contributor to the causes she supports and the organizations she works with.
