Observed with an OT on the CVA (stroke) floor. Watched the performance of evaluations, completion of paperwork for discharge, and got to see and briefly participate in some treatment sessions. I also got to see different ways stroke presents in individuals, and interacted with clients post CVA and a few with brain injury, and amputations as well. In this facility, I treated kids with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Down syndrome, and Cerebral Palsy. I was responsible for completing their treatment note during/after sessions. During my treatment sessions, my aim for the session was centered around meeting the short-term and futuristic long-term goals they had through playing with them and making the activity meaningful and creative. Some of the interventions I used include the use of a swing to provide either vestibular and or proprioceptive input, a yoga ball for core strengthening, and vestibular and or proprioceptive input. I also helped them with activities of daily living such as dressing- learning to fasten snaps/buttons, the sequence of dressing, how to be independent at brushing their teeth, etc. Show less

Provided treatment for diagnoses such as Lateral Epicondylitis, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, De Quervain's tenosynovitis, finger contracture, shoulder impingement, and rotator cuff tear/ pain. At this facility, while I was treating patients who were usually older adults, and occasionally some youths and kids, I utilized physical agent modalities namely, ultrasound and fluidotherapy. The goal of my interventions depending on the client and their diagnoses were usually targeted towards reducing pain, increasing range of motion, and strengthening. Show less
