I met Amanda Yaffa when we were both elected to serve as Class of 2020 Representatives on the Student Government Association during the Fall of our first year at Elon. From my first few interactions with her, I was struck by Amanda's genuine nature, her undeniable professionalism, and her humble intelligence. Over the course of Amanda's time on the SGA, she has worked with other class treasurer's, on-campus organizations, and previous executive treasurers to examine and allocate various budget requests for campus events and initiatives. Amanda stepped into her role as Executive Treasurer during a time of immense change at Elon, as the student organization funding process and budgeting model changes took effect during her term. For context, this is the first time this model had changed since 1999. Despite the difficulties that came with this, Amanda navigated the process with grace and poise. She made herself an available resources to numerous students and organization leaders who felt confused and frustrated by the changes, and she aided them with clear directions and a helpful smile. Further, it is worth noting that during her first year as a class treasurer, Amanda was the only female in the group. In the spring of 2019, she lead an entirely female cohort of treasurers. Amanda is a wonderful person and a joy to be around, and I can not recommend her enough for any endeavor.
