Worked on a number of different shark projects. Performed various studies on bait manipulation, which required cutting bait and setting the line. Set underwater cameras to observe how the sharks would take the bait. Worked sharks up which included taking DNA, sexing, tagging, measuring, and taking other relevant data. Helped out with a long-line study. Set five long-lines about a mile long, with a twenty-four hour soak time. Observed which bait was taken, shark population numbers, which ones were re-caught, etc.. Attempted to identify the mangroves as a nursery habitat for juvenile sharks, predominantly Lemon Sharks and Nurse Sharks. Helped construct observation towers which were used to record any sharks that entered the nursery habitat. Learned to identify sharks by reading their color code that had been placed on it earlier in the season. Kept a record of which sharks would be seen together repeatedly, as part of a social behavior study.
