      Acted as a intern for the Long Island branch of The Nature Conservancy from Spring to Fall 2011. Under mentor Nicole Maher, was taught various data collection techniques aimed at assessing the qualitative and quantitative health of Long Island's salt marshes. These included Surface Elevation Tables (SET platforms), feldspar plots, laser elevation recordings, and identification of plants. Much of this data was then compared to water elevation rise to determine the potential effects of climate change on Long Island. Also assisted with projects to determine the effects of invasive intertidal crab species on marshes. This included monitoring crab traps and sexing those captured. Show less
