Amanda Soliván is a mover and shaker. She has held educational positions all over the United States and internationally and most recently, she leads the social studies effort in Tulsa Public Schools. Working with Amanda is always a pleasure. She has good ideas but she always looks to others for more. She is a reader and a thinker who searches out the best solutions to challenges. Her strong work ethic brings needed consistency to a large urban school district role where she recognizes and collaborates with teacher leaders as she patiently supports teachers who struggle more. In my own experience, Amanda sets high expectations for herself and for others. She meets her own expectations even when she is tired and she works to offer opportunities for learning and support to those whose expectations are not so high. All the leadership accolades Amanda deserves do not even address her strengths as a researcher and writer. Her strong understanding of educational best practices as well as her strong interests in research and curriculum writing make her a force. She wrote lessons for her social studies team from elementary through high school about the Tulsa Race Massacre last year. Her work earned her some publicity but the main point is that students in Tulsa are now encouraged to ask questions about this disastrous massacre and their teachers have excellent materials to use. Amanda can do whatever is put in front of her. Working with her is a pleasure.

Amanda is an incredible leader with an extensive background in effective instructional practices, backwards design, standards-based assessment, and instructional coaching. She is professional, highly engaging, and able to reach challenging goals. She works tirelessly to support educators and their goals in improving instruction and classroom cultures. Amanda is capable of creating targeted professional learning plans for individuals, departments, and schools in order to meet the goals of an organization. Amanda seeks out current research in education and advocates for students through such a lens. As a leader, coach, and teacher, Amanda is an incredible colleague, and an invaluable asset to any organization.
