Bio
Seamus Bennett
Amanda was an exceptional social work volunteer for VSO in Kazakhstan, 2004-2006. She made a significant and long-lasting impact in her organisation by being thoroughly knowledgable in her field and sensitive and adaptable to local circumstances. She also made a wider impact by taking the initiative to apply for and successfully gain funding for a self-advocacy project from the European Initiative for Democracy and Human Rights. This provided life-changing opportunities for a group of young disabled people in a country where the disabled have generally been kept 'out of sight' without a voice. Amanda had an exceptional ability to work productively with and support her local colleagues, managers, VSO staff and her fellow VSO volunteers. I believe she is now considering returning to the international development field: if I were recruiting for any development agency I would employ Amanda without hesitation - she's is one of the very best. Seamus Bennett - Country Director, VSO Kazakhstan, 2001-2008 (programme closed in 2008).
