Completed assessments of individual needs and interests, determining appropriate habilitative/rehabilitative objectives, and developing activities to meet these objectives Utilized music to provide a nonthreatening, self-motivating experience to assist individuals in relating to the immediate environment, the self, and the community Provided an atmosphere compatible to behavioral change, self-expression, and nonverbal and verbal communications Developed and maintained a monthly leisure calendar for the case load including daily, weekly, and monthly activities, including special events and scheduled office time. Attended interdisciplinary team conferences regarding the habilitative/rehabilitative needs of patients/residents Evaluated and documented each resident’s response and progress, providing an annual formal report to the State of California Worked with volunteers and student interns in rehabilitative therapy Was elected Vice-chairperson of Rehabilitative Therapists Professional Group (RTPG) Chaired the RTPG Events committee which planned and carried out center-wide therapeutic activities for over 400 residents. Created the “FAR Band”, a rock band composed of music therapy clients who wrote original music and played public gigs. Producer for “Flutes, Friends, and Fa-La-La”, an annual fundraiser that showcases the FAR music therapists and clients’ therapeutic process and accomplishments. Music therapist at day and sleep away camps providing creative arts therapies to children, teenagers and young adults with special needs. Created a Song/Rap-Writing Class in which participants can write and record original compositions. Responsible for providing musical entertainment for Recreation Club parties once a month. Created a music therapy assistant training program for a client’s school vocational training.
