As a Peer Recovery Coach, I work to remove barriers and obstacles to recovery by serving as a personal guide. Recovery Coaches enter into an ongoing mentoring relationship with their clients that help people who are in recovery or who are considering recovery from substance use disorders (or other issues) to produce extraordinary results in their lives. At the Collegiate Recovery Center, we believe that everyone is in recover from something, whether that be compulsive eating, childhood trauma, substance use disorder, etc. This view of recovery allows us to serve a larger population of the student body and assist them in improving their lives in any way they feel may be beneficial to them. Some of my responsibilities as a coach include: -Providing support and encourage empowerment among clients when confronting barriers and other steps towards recovery. -Advocate for individuals as needed (with doctors, in court if appropriate, housing assistance programs, etc.) -Applying coaching and motivational skills cohesively with the therapeutic team. -Assisting clients in achieving both long term and short-term goals based on their individual recovery plan. -Working cohesively with the therapeutic team during crisis situations. -Demonstrating excellent communication skills with both my clients and coworkers.
