I had the pleasure of working directly with Amanda, during her internship at Walton. Amanda was responsible for researching and drafting several blog posts for our marketing effort. She was very efficient and managed her time well. The blogs that she prepared were very well written. I was impressed by her work ethic and values. I highly recommend her as part of a team!

At EGLE, I had the opportunity to work on a variety of legal projects for the state government. Some of these projects included working with conservation district law and seed potato regulations for the Department of Agriculture, conducting research for the Assistant Attorney General, and writing a memo for an Administrative Law Judge. I had the opportunity to work both independently and collaboratively with other legal interns. I also engaged in highly beneficial networking and attended a variety of meetings regarding current legal issues.

At Knutson’s, I perform a variety of tasks as the company needs them. Some of these tasks have included end-of-the-year inventory, counting and packaging live bait, preparing live bait containers, and pricing new inventory. Additionally, I am responsible for taking customer phone calls, which I either redirect or take bait/merchandise orders. At Knutson’s, I perform a variety of tasks as the company needs them. At the court, I observe in the courtroom of the Honorable Thomas Wilson. During this time, I have the opportunity to observe experienced attorneys in a variety of cases. I also have the opportunity to consider Judge Wilson’s responses and rulings and to ask questions afterwards. This experience has been very positive and has allowed me to get a practical feel for the way the law operates in the courtroom setting. At Great Lakes Medical, I fill-in as needed in the company's office. I work without immediate supervision, allowing me practice performing independently. I balance multiple communication mediums, including phone, email, and fax. This has helped me to become more flexible and has simultaneously improved my communication skills. I also work with both an electronic and traditional filing system, using them in conjunction to locate patient information. This has improved my organizational capabilities, as it forces me to keep track of related information in multiple locations.

    • Administrative Assistant
      • Feb 2018 - Aug 2018

In my time at Anderton, I had the opportunity of assisting office staff in the operational and administrative duties of a manufacturing organization. Although my tasks were assigned to me on a daily or weekly basis, I performed much of my work independently. This helped me to practice time management and prioritization of tasks. I was also expected to answer the office phone and greet guests at the door, which allowed me to practice flexibility as I bounced from one activity to another as different circumstances arose. Finally, I improved my communication skills, as I often contacted various vendors and customers, either to request or send invoices and other documentation.

    • Cabin Resident and Teaching Assistant
      • Jul 2009 - Jul 2018

At "I Can Make It!" Camp, I have had the opportunity of mentoring elementary and middle-school aged kids in the areas of math, science, and technology. The camp is a week-long overnight camp that I have attended every summer since 2006. I was a camper for my first three years, after which time I became a junior counselor. When I turned 18 in 2014, I finally became a full-fledged cabin resident and teaching assistant, responsible for campers both during the day and overnight. This position has been very unique and has taught me a lot about leadership and responsibility. In addition, it has been a great opportunity to give back to my community and make a positive impact on the youth. I hope to be able to continue to give back throughout my entire career and am very thankful to have had this special experience. (Please note: from 2009 through 2013, my position was "Junior Counselor" and in 2018, I served only as a cabin resident.)

At West Texas, I was often the first face customers saw when entering the restaurant. Because of this, I improved my customer service skills and learned how to communicate with all types of people. At West Texas, I was often the first face customers saw when entering the restaurant. During my summer with student painters, I worked as part of a team of college students to perform exterior house painting. We all came from different backgrounds, and painting is intense physical labor. In order to complete our jobs, we were forced to work as a team and reconcile our differences. This helped me to build my teamwork skills and also to recognize and appreciate diversity. During my internship with Walton, I got to put my marketing skills to use. One of my intern projects was to create a catalog of insurance-related blog posts that could be utilized on the company's website. This was a huge opportunity to better my written-communication and, since I had little background on insurance, my research skills. Similarly, I had to opportunity to update the company website and create a catalog of social media posts for the upcoming year. I also participated in further research on millennial insurance-buying habits. Marketing is all about proper research and communication, and this internship definitely helped to polish my skills.
