I met Amanda in middle school. What amazed me about her was her ability to make a question out of anything and to make that question interesting and informative. That is one of her qualities that makes her an excellent teacher. Another one is that she spends hours researching and preparing for her classes. She finds short video clips on historical events for her students an incorporates them into her lessons to make her classes more alive.

Amanda has been a very pleasant classmate as well as a great friend to me over the past few years. I met her when we were both freshmen in college and we have remained close since then. She is diligent and courteous to her classmates and teachers, and has always been willing to lend a hand and assist those who are in need, especially with her spectacular English writing skills. Her intelligence and infectious ambition will bring her far in life and make her very successful as the teacher she plans to be. I have much to learn from her and highly recommend her.

As part of P.E.A.C.H. (Peer Educators Advocating Campus Health) at SF State I had the opportunity to help educate my campus about sexuality and sexual health related issues. We did presentations on safer sex practices, STIs, and many more, including sex toys. We would play informative games in the quad and hand out information, condoms and lube. Joined the club “Students for a Safe Campus” in Fall 2007, a group that works with the S.A.F.E. place (Sexual Abuse Free Environment), which teaches about safety and health care services. Participated in creating and implementing programs to teach awareness of campus safety, and identifying healthy and unhealthy relationships. Events included "Cock Tales," a male version of the Vagina Monologues performed by SF State students. Show less

As a book seller at Borders I not only worked the register, but also worked the information desk and sorted merchandise. I also was specially trained to handle SPO (special orders) that would be sent from our distributors to our stores for customer pickup. This involved communication with distributors and customers. I also was in charge of returning items that were not picked up after the deadline, which involved notes about our inventory and packaging skills.
