In my role with Broken Arrow EDC, I worked with Broken Arrow businesses that create primary jobs to ensure they are successful in Broken Arrow. If they ran into issues doing business, we helped facilitate resolution, and if they were planning on expansion, we helped walk through the process with them to ensure they had the resources they need to grow and continue to do business in Broken Arrow. I also worked to identify incentives that our employers could take advantage of. This was a newly-created position, and I was tasked with building the framework for the Broken Arrow Public Schools partnership program, EngageBA. The purpose of this position and program was to build relationships within the community and facilitate partnerships between the business community and school district, for the benefit of Broken Arrow students, teachers, and staff members. In just over three years, and in the middle of a global pandemic, I successfully built the groundwork for a partnership program, and built relationships throughout the Broken Arrow community, resulting in countless partnerships, many of which included volunteers in our school buildings and internship opportunities for our high school students, and raised just under $500,000 for Broken Arrow Public Schools. Several partnerships were district-level partnerships that benefitted the entire Broken Arrow school district, which includes 20,000 students and 2,500 staff members. In this role, I was awarded Community Advocate of the Year by the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce. In addition to this position, I volunteered in many different capacities throughout the Broken Arrow community. I am passionate about making a difference and leaving an impact in Broken Arrow, so it was an honor to be nominated and receive this award. Show less
