I have known Rev. Dr. Amanda Ducksworth since 2012. I met her as the Keynote Speaker when we were participants in a Women’s Conference in South Carolina. She is a compelling and captivating speaker who keeps the audience actively engaged. Her life, leadership and academic experiences inform her excellent skill of making ideas easy for anyone to understand and appreciate her message. This skill confirms her as an outstanding teacher who targets concepts with both humor and truth that make people think and act. Dr. Ducksworth demonstrates her leadership abilities to analyze problems and effectively implement appropriate solutions. Her ministries addressed community problems through the formation of nonprofit organizations. She is self-motivated and does not pass an opportunity, within or outside of her realm of influence, to make life better for others. She is a visionary leader who fulfills her purpose and calling as a formidable presence for people and to encourage them in crisis. Her discernment in leadership and chaplaincy is inspired by her faith and God-given adeptness to synthesize and balance her earthly calling with her professional life. It has been my honor to know Dr. Ducksworth for all these years. For additional perspective, you may connect with me at obaker@gordonconwell.edu or on Skype at octavia.baker2.

I have known the Rev. Dr. Amanda Ducksworth from 1998 when she was a student in my Old Testament (OT) introduction course at the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC). I also taught her biblical exegesis, an advanced graduate level course. Dr. Ducksworth applied much rigor on her studies at ITC. Following graduation with honors, she remained in close contact, always asking for additional information and resources to increase her academic knowledge. Thus, I remained as her mentor and, naturally, we became academic and personal friends. I have noted with delight how she has advanced professionally in church and hospital ministries as well as in the academy where she has held high positions as adjunct instructor and dean of students. Her resume is a testimony of her diverse skills in various nonprofit organizations some of which she established on her own. She participated on two of the Pilgrimages that I led to the Holy Land and to Zimbabwe and was a valuable resource person. On several occasions I invited Dr. Ducksworth to speak at the church that I pastored in Atlanta. She demonstrated her gifts as an engaging speaker with good humor. She is an effective and motivational teacher. She would be an asset to any organization or institution that seeks the services of a reliable, amiable, committed and self-motivated professional. For additional information regarding my friend, Dr. Ducksworth, please feel free to contact me at 404-527-7706; email: tmafico@itc.edu.
