As the Nutrition Coordinator I work under the direction and supervision of the WIC Director. The Nutrition Coordinator provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and counseling to participants. I work as a qualified nutritionist and certified lactation consultant at the WIC program. In this position I offer nutrition education and group counseling to prenatal/postpartum/breastfeeding women, infants and children. The WIC program offers healthy supplemental foods to low income families to support a healthy lifestyle. I conduct nutrition assessments which include monitoring infant and children's growth patterns on their growth charts and addressing concerns as needed. At the WIC program I also work as a certified lactation consultant responsible for helping women with their breastfeeding questions and concerns. I educate participants from many different backgrounds on how to correctly and successfully breastfeed. Show less
