Head of Youth Services
-
Feb 2016 - Jun 2018
As Manager of the Youth Services Department, I directed seven employees of the two-branch library system and taught them how to engage with babies, toddlers, kids, tweens, teens and their families, to create programming to serve the needs of those families, to build and maintain collections, to budget wisely and to grow and accept change. Youth Services Librarian

Oct 2014 - Dec 2015
At the Alvin Sherman Library, I presented storytime programs for children ages 0-3 and 3-5 and their caregivers and provided outreach to local daycares and preschools. I taught families early literacy practices and taught teachers how to best share those practices with their youngest students while using puppets. I also researched and purchased picture books, bibliotheraphy books, and easy reader books for the collection, and selected books for a special parenting collection. Teen Librarian
-
Mar 2013 - Oct 2014
As Teen Librarian, I was the only full-time employee in the teen department. I planned and implemented educational and recreational programming for teens in the public library, including but not limited to the Teen Homework Center (where students can get assistance with homework and other school projects from myself or two certified teachers), the Teen Advisory Board (a group of teens that spend time at the library and strive to make it and their community a better place for others their age), and recreational programming for teens (activities where they learn skills such as sewing, etiquette, crafting, arts, dance, language, film, etc). I purchased all materials for the teen collection, which includes fiction and nonfiction books, audio books, ebooks, dvds and video games, and provided outreach to local schools.
