Tree Swallow Research Internship

Interned for a PhD student’s research project on the effect of urban noise on nesting tree swallows. Independent tasks included nest box checks, capture and handling of live birds (adult and nestling), behavioral analyses, taking measurements, and banding.

Aviary Research Internship

Interned in the UC Davis campus aviary. Tasks included husbandry and handling of live dabbling ducks to measure tarsal and bill length for an ongoing research project on feeding strategies, as well as conducting basic health checks. Also assisted with time-activity budgets to help inform a new method for remote sensing of activity.
