Peachtree Corners Animal Clinic is a five-doctor practice with approximately 40 employees.The position involved managing virtually every aspect of the veterinary hospital. This included human resources: hiring/firing of staff, conducting annual performance reviews, holding monthly departmental and executive staff meetings, making decisions regarding salaries/wages, securing and managing benefits for full time employees, handling interpersonal issues between employees, maintaining accurate employee files, and acting as a liaison between the staff and the doctors. The position also required handling all financial elements of the business. This included managing cash flow, accounts payable, semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll, filing payroll taxes and preparing quarterly payroll tax returns, overseeing accounts receivable, preparing monthly P&L's, and presenting a budget/actual comparison of revenues and expenses for the owner. Secured liability and workers' compensation insurance for the practice, and reviewed each year with agent, making changes as necessary. Responsible for client concerns such as arranging payment plans, resolving issues regarding clients complaints, and handling any client matter that required management involvement. As practice manager, I was also responsible for devising an overall marketing plan for the business, overseeing its implementation, and evaluating its effectiveness.
