Downer New Zealand has built a significant proportion of the country's roads, rail lines, telecommunications and hydroelectric schemes that enabled New Zealand to grow into the country it is today. More recently we have become actively involved in water and renewable energy schemes and with more than 5000 employees located in over 50 towns and cities across New Zealand, we play an integral role in keeping New Zealand's essential infrastructure running. The key to our success is our people who, on a day-to-day basis, stand and deliver the company's core values of Excellence, Courage, Collaboration & Integrity across a diverse landscape of markets. I work within the Recruitment Team of Downer New Zealand across the Transportation and Major Projects divisions.

Being one of the busiest bars in Christchurch at the time, this was a high pressure and fast paced environment. As a senior member I often open and closed the bar which came with a lot of different responsibilities that I was trusted with. I was also responsible for training new employees, helping out with stock-take and reordering of low stock, as well as the general bar duties. I went on to get my licence controllers qualification (LCQ) which enables me to apply for a general manager's certificate
