Jack Douglas Pappalardo

I had the pleasure of mentoring and directly managing Alye Sharp during her MPA Capstone year in my role as President of Denver's Art District on Santa Fe, a Colorado Certified Creative District and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Alye is a quick learner with a demonstrated passion for the creative industry. During her Capstone project Alye gathered economic data required by the State of Colorado as part of the Art District's certification, including district-wide sales tax, property tax, commercial occupancy rates and other data for the multi-block urban corridor that forms the Art District boundaries. I gave Alye a lot of responsibility and she responded very well to it, doing work typically performed by one at the level of city manager or organization officer. She handled it very well and the data was right on. I also was a third reader for Alye's MPA Capstone year paper and presentation titled "How Creative Districts Contribute to Local Economies: Denver's Art District on Santa Fe." The paper and presentation were both excellent and were also useful to the Art District organization in its ongoing efforts to justify city investment into our creative community. Alye was fully engaged in the Art District organization, attending meetings, creative conferences and numerous events. Not only is Alye wonderful at that, but she has a personality and temperament (and a wicked sense of humor!) that are well suited for the creative industry and for success in any position that involves interaction with work peers and the public.

The RiNo Art District is a nonprofit arts organization and state-certified creative district representing the artists, creatives, and small businesses of the four historic neighborhoods that fall within its boundaries. As Community Outreach Director, I work on strategic partnerships and communications between the art district and its many stakeholders, community organizations, and state and local government, as well as visitors. I also manage many of the district's programs, educational workshops, and policy initiatives. Show less
