The organizational structure is formed as: Sales Department, Production Department, Projects Department and Engineering Department. My position is Structural Design Engineer. As a part of the Engineering Department, I report to the Engineering Manager. The Engineering department is engaged in two distinct stages: Enquiry and Order Stage. At both stages, we supply engineering services to the Sales Department as an internal client. These services include structural analysis, optimizing the structures to be fit for purpose and to ensure they are structurally sound to withstand the intended loads, in accordance with relevant national and international codes. Detailed engineering drawings are also created for the production department to price and manufacture the ordered products to be installed at the particular site.At the enquiry stage, the calculations are limited to the general structural sizing, enough to enable the sales team to give a ‘ball-park’ tender price on the project.However, at the Order stage, complete structural analysis, reports and detailed manufacturing drawings for manufacturing are produced to enable fabrication and installation on-site.
