Thanks to the Marie Curie IEF program I had the opportunity to join Dr. Stefano Pluchino's group a the University of Cambridge (UK), finding a highly motivating and competitive environment which has enabled me to grow as a scientist and to explore new ways of doing science. I was in charge of a project entitled Wnt_immune aimed to develop a chimeric mouse model to study the role of Wnt3A in ischemic stroke. • Scientific writing: research grants (including Marie Curie IEF fellowship), scientific articles and reports to funding agencies (including MRC and Welcome Trust). • Independent project management: setting goals and deadlines, budgeting, ordering, equipment acquisition and maintenance. • Skilled in writing and keeping compliance of human subject research protocols (IRB protocols) and experimental animal research protocols (IACUC). • Recruited and trained new staff members. Mentored two undergraduate students. • Nurtured collaborations, wrote site budgets and scientific reports, complied with internal and external deadlines, promoted consortia in international meetings. Techniques Cell culture of primary cells (bone-derived macrophages) and several cell lines. Molecular biology techniques including clonning (design of vectors and chimeric animals), DNA and RNA isolation, Quantitative PCR, Western blot, ELISA, IHC, ELISA. Oxygen and glucose deprivation experiments
