I take classes at Culture Shock Las Vegas as well to improve my dancing. UNLV APHP is a student organization that focuses on improving pre-medical students professionally and academically. As a general member of UNLV APHP, I am responsible for fulfilling the responsibilities they assign us. For example, we are responsible for a specific amount of hours to volunteer, fundraise, and even wellness hours. I am able to volunteer for non-profit organizations in the Las Vegas community as well as devote my time to being a full-time student at UNLV. I was in charge of maintaining the facilities' cleanliness as well as helping the Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists finish their patient's exercises for the day. I also helped the front desk organizing papers in alphabetical order and was able to keep patient's information confidential. When there were any changes to the schedule I was able to adapt accordingly and attend to the patient's needs. I was responsible to study and advertise products from Omats, a small business that advertises for comfortability through materials directed towards the elderly population. For example, they had heated scarves, DIY floor heating, and a heated toilet seat. They were innovative and true to themselves which made them unique. I observed different types of healthcare professionals to enhance skills in the field, cared for and encouraged patients by helping with basic necessities and day to day operations, and practiced skills related to being a Certified Nursing Assistants such as basic medical practices. I was able to see what it would be like to work as a Registered Nurse or a Licenced Practical Nurse as well as observe other occupations.
