I product manage 3 different product portfolios. The first is around electronic jammers to protect personnel against RF-IED threats. The second portfolio is for 'Digital Trust', a range of cyber security products and services aimed at allowing enterprises and organisations to realise their ambitions of digitally transforming their businesses, this is particularly applicable to companies embracing the IoT. The final product is a system comprising of a unique collector system for capturing potential biological agents supported by an accompanying transportable BSL-3 laboratory for identification of the agents. In my short time at Thales I have attended training courses in value based pricing and Strategyser's Value Proposition Canvas, both supplementing my extensive product management experience. This role covered the product management of dry pumps to the flat panel display market sector and since 2016, product management of vacuum and abatement systems to semiconductor customers using EUV Lithography. The role has broad responsibilities and involves close interaction with almost all departments within the company - regional sales and marketing teams (to support major bids, for new product launches, product pricing, market feedback, market share analysis, competitor analysis, business development ), technical (new product requirements, product support), manufacturing (product costing, demand forecasts, quality), accounts (product costing, results reporting – revenues, margins), publicity (for press releases, advertising literature, exhibitions) and service (for the support and service of installed products).Forecasting is also key part of the role. Using market reports I have developed market models that allow prediction of Edward’s product volumes, revenues and profitability. These predictions are used to support business cases and essentially drive strategy. The role has a strong strategic element to ensure continuous best in class products at lowest costs. This involves maintaining a strong product roadmap based on a deep understanding of the market sectors. and their requirements.Customers (and Edwards sales and marketing specialists) for these products are principally in the Far East (China, Taiwan, Japan and Korea). I therefore have extensive experience of communicating across many language and cultural barriers. Show less

    • Etch Process Application Engineer
      • Apr 1998 - Sep 2000

When working at company headquarters my primary role was process development. Application engineers were expected to develop etch processes for a wide variety of materials and feature sizes. I processed both mainstream and more diverse customer samples. The mainstream included the usual conductive and dielectric (including low k) etches, whereas the less common processes included photoresist dry develop, high dielectric constant materials etch and various compound semiconductor etches. I was in regular contact with customers to report current progress. When process development was successful then the customer would usually visit Trikon for a live demonstration lasting 1-2 weeks. The remaining part of my job function was to visit customers (world-wide) to provide either process support on existing tools or commission developed processes on newly installed equipment.
