In this practice each physician has their own nurse. While working here I handle all aspects of that physicians practice. I schedule all surgeries, pre-ops, and post operative appointments. I also coordinate all pre-op testing and surgical clearance that needs to be done on all patients. As well as history and physicals needed for surgery. I coordinate the upcoming surgical hardware that will be needed with all the reps from each company. All of the physical therapy forms, medication requests and voice mails were my responsibility. Dressing changes, splinting, casting, application of braces for an assortment of injuries and fractures were included in my responsibilities. The physician I work for is an upper extremity specialist. All of the documentation in the office is electronic medical records so I am familiar with computer charting and computers in general. I assisted the physician in the rooms with patients intermittently to enter physical exams into the patient's medical records Show less

Clinic duties included assisting patients into the exam rooms, obtaining a detailed history and summary of their present problem. I completed casting and splinting for all types of patients with a variety of fractures and other ailments. Suture and Staple removal were completed as well. Clinic duties included voice mails. All voice mails were retrieved, reviewed with the physician and answered in a timely manor. As a nurse I would follow a physician into a room and assist with the documentation of the physical exam and any tests that were needed. While at Summit I worked in all aspects of the office. Including Orthopaedics, Orthopaedic Spine Surgery, Physiatry as well as their ambulatory surgical center as a circulating nurse. Each nurse took call as well for 1 week at a time. All emergent needs and questions were taken care of. I would rotate from different positions depending on the greatest need at that time Show less

I started working in the Cardiology department. I performed EKG's in the outpatient setting as well as throughout the entire hospital. I operated and focused on the EKG during codes in the Emergency Room. I worked full time, 8 hour shifts at the hospital while I went to Nursing school full time as well. Once I graduated nursing school and passed my nursing boards I transferred to the Surgical Intensive Care Unit. I started as a staff RN and progressed to Charge Nurse in one year. Our SICU received most of the post operative patients that were in distress as well as all the trauma patients. I specialized in the Neurologically injured patients. Show less
