The Practice Manager, IRIS NFP division was the first key man management role for me that expanded my responsibilities beyond project/programme delivery to people and business management. I was very fortunate to have Allen as my manager for a significant part of my time in this role as I acquired lots of skills in leadership and coaching through working for and with him which I have continued to use in subsequent roles. Allen is a very effective leader who leads through providing very clear direction for his team including setting very consistent objectives and goals. He creates a collaborative working atmosphere by working with the team to build a shared vision and then puts effective structures in place to drive the vision forward. He consistently delivered on his promises to the Executive team, his direct reports as well as clients and achieved this through his commitment to continuous development and excellent people coaching skills. Having Allen as a manager/leader allowed me to develop very rapidly in my role and I would love the opportunity to work with/for him again.

I worked with Allen during his year at Scientia. He joined as COO, and made an immediate impact by improving the focus on client satisfaction, and on clarifying project scope and meeting project milestones. His teams felt supported by him, as well as challenged, and I and my fellow Directors viewed him as a strong contributor to the Executive team. He introduced stronger processes that helped us to improve the consistency of our project and support delivery, and he was able to build relationships with clients at a senior level to ensure that we were able to manage expectations professionally, and to deliver to those expectations.
