Allen reported to me throughout the seven years he spent with ARMS Reliability, first as a Reliability Engineer and finally as Engineering Team Manager. Allen always focused on ensuring that ARMS company mission, vision, and values were extended to every client and project on which he worked and managed. This continually resulted in successful outcomes and significant cost savings. Allen has a strong technical knowledge of reliability engineering and enjoys coaching and developing others. I am happy to be able to provide a recommendation for Allen and wish him well in his future endeavors.

Jesus M.

I had the opportunity to meet Mr. Allen Garcia at a professional level in 2011 when he was hired to work as a Reliability Engineer at Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold Mine located in Green Valley Arizona. At that time, I was the Sr. reliability engineer and he reported directly to me among three other engineers that formed the reliability engineering department. Mr. Allen Garcia promptly excelled from other engineers, specifically on he’s outstanding organization skills and meticulous attention to details. Mr. Allen’s great attitude to work with other people with different cultural and educational background made him a valuable resource and led the department to accomplish the goals and core values of the Company. Mr. Allen’s knowledge in reliability statistics encouraged other engineers to acquire those skills and motivated them to learn and provide a higher class of service to stakeholders. I also had the opportunity to know Mr. Allen on a personal level and I feel very fortunate and proud to consider him a friend. A person with very high moral integrity and loyalty and I do not hesitate to recommend him. Sincerely, Jesus M. Murguia Electrical & Mechanical Engineer

    • Yoga Instructor / Founder of YogARMS
      • Jul 2014 - May 2020

Founded YogARMS: a corporate wellness program, aimed at helping employees relief stress, and expand their mind and body through yoga.Studies suggest that sitting for hours on end is harmful, regardless of a person's overall calorie intake or physical activity. This may be because immobile muscles gradually lose the ability to metabolize fats and sugar as efficiently as they should, which could promote high cholesterol and up diabetes risk.In an effort to get co-workers moving and counteract these common health issues, I started offering yoga classes for everyone in the office twice a week. By harnessing the benefits and alignment principles of a yoga practice, you can alleviate common desk job health problems such as: back, neck, and shoulder pain. If you are a “desk dweller” like most people are, be sure to stretch and walk around throughout the day. A rule of thumb is to get away from your screen for 5 minutes every hour. Show less

    • Reliability Engineer – Embedded Reliability Engineering Best Practices to Company Culture/Six Sigma
      • Nov 2011 - May 2013

During my time at FCX, I managed responsibilities beyond my scope as a Reliability Engineer. As a Project Manager, I supervised and managed projects for infrastructure/production sustainability, with upgrades at a total capital value $ 1 M. Examples of such reliability improvements are: o Upgraded HDPE pipe line for the Concentrator operations to improve production flow rates, reduce process material spills, and eliminate monthly lost revenue of $ 1.4 M. o Upgraded key production equipment (conveyor motors and gearboxes) to improve reliability, eliminate obsolescence, and minimize repair parts. With this, saved $ 215 K on repairs and 53 kW on energy consumption. In addition, I was keen to implement Six Sigma methodologies at the Sierrita mine and I steered the development of a Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification process. With the guidance of Dr. Robert Seitz, Sierrita was able to establish a Six Sigma champion presence and implement its methodologies for plant continuous improvement. My Six Sigma project was in Asset Management, where I applied Quick Changeover (QCO) methods to improve Preventive Maintenance (PM) practices, minimize value of lost production, reduce downtime, improve on safety and equipment reliability on Concentrator ball mills. With this, I became the Six Sigma champion for the Concentrator maintenance department. As a Reliability team, we managed and implemented Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) in different departments throughout the site. I personally managed the KPI’s for the Crush/Convey and Concentrator areas. These were managed using SAP, were we built and edited reports in SAP Business Objects to asses performance of equipment and processes and recommend reliability improvements. These improvements consisted of budget, cost, equipment performance, life data analysis, and risk analysis. I was also certified using TapRoot® for Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to conduct equipment (fixed and mobile) and safety RCAs. Show less

During this year, Ananda Yoga was starting up and both Betsy and Gilberto Arias sought me to become one of the founding teachers at this studio. Through their leadership and vision, Ananda Yoga is now serving a large community of yoga practitioners in the “Sun City” and I am fortunate to say that I was there at the beginning of this success. I continued here to offer hatha yoga classes to all levels. This is one of two positions I was in whilst completing my master’s degree.I taught mechanical engineering undergraduate students fundamental engineering principles and practices in a laboratory environment. I assessed the lab’s equipment performance, ensured student’s safety, and improved teaching curricula by enhancing student's time and project management skills.

This is the second position I was in whilst completing my master’s degree. I performed research at the Center for Space Exploration and Technology Research (CSETR), under the advising of Dr. Evgeny Shafirovich. My research was focused on chemical combustion to improve chemical oxygen generators for the aerospace industry which led to an original thesis publication and scientific publication on the Combustion and Flames Journal. The following are selected accomplishments:o Improved powder composition and designed an experimental setup for chemical oxygen generators (Thesis work).o Advanced two-step solar thermochemical cycles for CO2 splitting by virtue of theoretical and experimental kinetic analysis (funded by U.S. Department of Energy).o Enhanced powder mixture compositions for chemical oxygen generators in conjunction with NASA White Sands Test Facility (funded by NASA). • Yoga Instructor
      • Aug 2008 - Jan 2011

At the age of 18 I started my practice in yoga and meditation, and had a regular practice at the university. Inspired by my yoga teacher at the moment, she enabled me to step up to the seat of the teacher and thus I begun seeking teacher training. Upon completing a 200 hour teacher training at Bhava Yoga Studio in Albuquerque, NM, I enriched my practice and my teachings, and succinctly empowered students, faculty and staff at UTEP to discover the benefits of yoga as I did.

Since 1993, the University of Texas System Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) has sought to increase the number of underrepresented minority students pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM careers). The alliance has also encouraged these individuals to earn Baccalaureate degrees and pursue a graduate education in the state of Texas through valuable research opportunities. I participated in the UT System LSAMP Summer Research Academy performing both theoretical and experimental research on the topic of flashback propensity of syngas in gas turbines (funded by U.S. Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation).Upon completion of this internship and review of the leading committee of my performance, I was solely selected to represent UTEP at the World Science Forum in Budapest, Hungary. This honor was bestowed to one student per UT institution. Show less
