• Implemented bilingual approach to Deaf education, providing students with the opportunity to maintain their identity in Deaf culture, learning in their native language, while developing a foundation for the syntax and semantics of the English language • Developed and implemented needs assessments to adequately provide social and behavioral strategies, including accommodations, addressing students’ needs in alignment with objectives developed through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) • Helped students develop cognitively through the use of real-life experiences to support learning • Used the Positive Behavior and Intervention Services (PBIS) as a model to improve school climate • Devised social and behavioral strategies using the PBIS model as a framework to support students’ character development • Initiated and developed a partnership with community organizations, which afforded our organization the opportunity to provide students with positive behavioral support activities • Wrote and received a curricular grant • Helped students develop cognitively through the use of real-life experiences to support technological services available to the Deaf and hard of hearing through community exposure • Provided students with engaging activities that promoted physical health while teaching them about actively contributing to their community • Initiated and coordinated a partnership with community organizations, which afforded our organization the opportunity to provide students with positive community exposure Show less
