As a project engineering lead, I am responsible to drive projects from design to closeout phase. These projects are permanent/temporary modifications as required for Major Component Replacement program for Bruce Power nuclear reactor. Some of my projects include firewater piping modifications, outage connections between units for services, piping, vessel, and civil interference removals, electrical modifications outside vault, and establishment of new material handling building. My job duties include: • Lead projects for safety, quality, productivity, and other business improvements from initial concept and scope development through design, procurement, construction/installation, and start-up. • Review design proposal i.e., drawings, calculations, commissioning instructions etc. prepared by vendors against relevant codes, standards, and BP procedures. • Mark-up/prepare arrangement drawings, isometrics, PID, memo etc. to avoid configuration mismatch. • Lead pre-installation field walkdown for constructability and feasibility reviews and post-installation walkdown with engineering, operations, maintenance, construction, and management for closeout. • Setup interactive planning sessions with responsible system engineer and maintenance to discuss maintenance strategies and commissioning requirements. • Review contractor schedules for work breakdown and manpower planning. • Advise material replacements/alternate vendors to procurement team to expedite material shipment. • Participate in design reviews and other technical reviews for design evaluation and scope alignment. • Interpret all project-related documents (mechanical, electrical, civil, etc.). • Support project manager and coordinators for planning/prioritizing field work, review work breakdown, CORs, and participate in the preparation of project plan, schedule, budget, and proposals. • Coordinate preparation of work permits, code departure, and license and regulatory agency approvals.
