Along with many other community groups, Women Who Code Melbourne have transitioned our Meetup events to be online. Online events require presenters to have a high level of energy, be particularly articulate and charismatic - even through a camera lens. For our April event, we were lucky enough to have Alita speaking to our attendees and she was brilliant! There is actually no other way to say it. Other online events I have been involved with have had between a 35% and 50% attendance rate (based on the RSVPs), our event had 70% attendance and zero people leave before the end. The feedback we received about the event was very positive. Attendees felt that Alita was inspiring, that she shared her knowledge well, and they left the event considering actions that they would implement in their lives. For me, personally, I felt energised after spending (virtual) time with Alita - it was a highlight of my week. I wouldn't hesitate to have Alita as a speaker again!

NFP, The Retail Orphanage Initiative Ltd works with charities globally to help orphans and other children in need. If you run a charity, retail tech company or brand get in touch. We can help or talk about how you can help too.In my time over being there I have helped raise over $200k in funds over 2 main events held with Retail Global which we have used to help build a School and Safe Homes in Haiti for orphans. A country who has 1000’s of children sold into the sex trade every year. A country that only has paid education and an average of just over $800 annual wage. These children before our help literally use to eat mud patties with a bit of salt mixed into them just to have some nutrients in their bodies
