Zak Glenn Allen U.S.C. Express Catering 3607 Trousdale Parkway, Tutor Campus Center, B20P Los Angeles, CA 90089 To Whom It May Concern, I would recommend Alistair W. Fortson to any position within your organization. During his limited four month internship with the University of Southern California’s Express Catering, Alistair assisted with critical tasks that set forth the foundation for the successful rebranding and transitioning from the University of Southern California’s Room Service to the University of Southern California’s Express Catering. Usually, I would not hire someone as young as Alistair, who was a freshman at the time of his interview. The position requires years of job experience/life experience to understand how accuracy & attention to details effects the overall costs of goods, through inventory analysis & inventory flow. However, Alistair’s professionalism and ambition displayed in his follow up interview letter changed my mind and he was hired for the internship position. During his internship with USC Express Catering, Alistair displayed remarkable work ethic, leadership and resolve. His work ethic and leadership skills were demonstrated by coming in early and staying late to finish time sensitive, detail oriented, team projects. When errors were made on the team project, Alistair took the lead and initiative to correct the mistakes & finish the inventory analysis. His resolve to find solutions to missing inventory led to new security and logistic policies and new software inventory control for our department. If you need to speak with me directly, I can be reached via cell phone at 310-465-8738 or email ZakAllen@usc.edu or ZakAllen2008@gmail.com Thank You, Zak Allen

Alistair consistently arrives punctually for his volunteer hours, communicates clearly, and demonstrates initiative and attention to detail while performing maintenance tasks and assisting me in collections management and curation. He draws upon his strengths to identify issues and solve problems efficiently. I recommend him for future assistance with Museum projects and events.

Adolfo R. Mercado, ofm

Alistair volunteered with the Breakthrough program housed on the SCDS campus and did an exemplary job as a volunteer. His attention to detail, ownership of work assigned, consistent willingness to help, and overall communication skills make it easy to welcome him back.

As a full time professional planner for the County of Santa Barbara, I was assigned to the Planning and Zoning Information Counter. My time with the county consisted of work with people at the counter with planning questions, analysis and discussion of relevant planning and development requirements, and plan review to determine if the proposed development would be compatible with relevant policies and code provisions. Released from probation due to illness and long commute times - Saticoy, CA to downtown Santa Barbara - and looking forward to another opportunity closer to Ventura to ensure I can provide the best service possible. • Seasonal Maintenance Worker
      • May 2018 - Sep 2018

Full time maintenance work, facility repair. Supervised Sheriff's Department Work Release Program participants as a seasonal employee of the Public Works and Parks Maintenance department, Town of Moraga, CA. Trained a new coworker on the operation and maintenance of the parks and public buildings in town, as well as road maintenance and assisting with cleanup and rerouting for emergencies and large events. Recently, as a part of this job, I have worked closely with the Moraga Parks Foundation and the Director of the Parks Department, Breyana Brandt, and Town management staff to develop best practices for staffing the summer concert series. As the team collated new requests from the public and balanced them with government requirements, I assisted with practical realities from former concerts and worked closely with staff to develop workable solutions. I also drafted and shared a printed set of directions for the event so that any new facility attendants can be quickly trained on the operation of the event and our complex responsibilities. Throughout my time with the Town, I have demonstrated my ability to remain calm and work with many different personalities so that the parks and public functions operate smoothly and with minimal interruption despite normal challenges. • Technical Assistant II | Kimble Northwest History Database Project
      • Jan 2015 - May 2016

Duties entailed scanning and processing Work Project/Progress Administration era article clippings from the 1930s, preserved through the funding of one of FDR's New Deal programs, known colloquially as clipping bureaus. The project remains ongoing due to the generous sponsorship of the Wallis and Marilyn Kimble Northwest History Foundation. This digitization process also allows worldwide access to the collection. My focus within the project includes the military history of the Northwest and regional participation in the First World War through articles from local northwest newspapers, draft boards, general interest articles on scientific inventions and theoretical projects, and wartime and veteran narratives. As a special project, upon recommendation by the project management team for my consistent and accurate work, I was asked to research independently for the grant funding renewal report, analyzing previously un-sorted clippings and materials from the 1860s through the 1930s for future processing.
