Pre-Registration Trainee
-
Jul 2010 - Jul 2011
I have completed my pre-registration year, covering all aspects and requirements of the GPhC and NES. I have gained experience in working in the dispensary ensuring that prescriptions are dispensed accurately and are clinically appropriate for patient discharge. I counselled patients on the safe use of medicines both as outpatients and on the wards. Working alongside the clinical pharmacists on a wide range medical, surgical and oncology wards, I ensured the safe and effective use of medicines by performing clinical checks on drug charts and dealing with pharmaceutical care issues. I have also had experience working in the Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital and Royal Cornhill hospital therefore I have had a wide range of clinical training. I also had experience working in the aseptic department which has further increased by knowledge and experience in ensuring patients receive clinically appropriate medicines prepared to a high standard. Pre-Registration Trainee (Cross sector placement)
-
Jan 2011 - Feb 2011
I spent four weeks in a busy flagship Boots store which enhanced my community pharmacy skills as I had prior to this not worked for a multiple. Despite having worked in various branches of the one independent company for a number of years it was useful to gain experience of the way a larger company works. I was allowed to chose what I wanted to learn from the experience and ensured that I worked as a trainee pharmacist rather than dispenser. I made myself available, under supervision of my mentors, to offer advice and my experience to both customers and other members of staff. I found the store to work very different to the pharmacies I had worked in before and treated this a challenge which I feel prepared me for my future career in community pharmacy. Show less

Pharmacy Student

May 2007 - Jul 2010
Working during holidays and at weekends throughout my four years at university I gained experience in all aspects of a busy community pharmacy. As my experience and knowledge developed I was given greater responsibilities and was relied on as an experienced member of staff. Working on a Saturday also involved working with various locum Pharmacists therefore I had to introduce them to the operating procedures of the pharmacy and I was responsible for delegating tasks to other members of staff. When working with locum pharmacists, I was responsible for ensuring all tasks had been completed and for the safe locking up of the premises at night. Show less
