Alison is a great leader and teacher. Her tutor training sessions are well-organized, interesting, practical, meaningful, and thorough. I attended sessions that occurred in the evenings, after most of us tutors had already spent long days at school or work. She never wasted time or let time drag. Rather, it was a joy to attend her trainings because I knew that I would learn a great deal from her, from the activities with other volunteers-in-training, and from other leaders, and most importantly, that I would leave inspired to perform my volunteer tutoring to the best of my abilities. It is no wonder, then, that Washtenaw Literacy has a great reputation among my professors at Eastern Michigan University, who often recommended that we MA TESOL students attend her workshops. In both the small and large group training sessions, I asked many questions of her, and she always gave me useful ideas and information, responding with care and attention. Alison is always available for questions and responds immediately. Her communications are clear and her activities and training sessions are useful and interesting. It is a pleasure working with her.
