My translational cancer research program is focused on cellular and molecular mechanisms of cancer metastasis; in particular the study of circulating tumor cells (CTCs), cancer stem cells (CSCs), and the metastatic microenvironment; and how the knowledge gained from experimental studies in these areas can be translated to the clinic to benefit patients. My educational interests and expertise include graduate education and mentorship, experiential learning, community-engaged learning, translational cancer research, and cancer cell biology. Show less

The Department of Oncology consists of >140 clinical and basic science faculty members across 5 Divisions (Experimental Oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, and Windsor Oncology). The Acting Chair position provided study leave coverage for the Chair including administrative oversight of all aspects of the academic mission of the Department. It also involved the initiation (in this time period) and subsequent leadership of the Department's Strategic Planning process which resulted in the development and implementation of a balanced scorecard to track metrics and outcomes related to the Strategic Plan.
