  During my employment period at Phoreon I had to take up a wide range of roles and responsibilities. My main role in the company was to synthesize and bio-conjugate gold nanoparticles for internal use and for sales. The synthesis of gold nano rods was done via the seed-mediated method. Although I had no prior experience in the production of nanoparticles, after a 3-month training period, I was able to single handed handle the production process. Additionally, I was in charge of the planning, the follow up and the execution of QC tests on the produced nanoparticles and bio-conjugates. I was also in charge of QC data management: registration of the obtained results and (statistical) analysis of the results. I was also in charge of executing troubleshoot experiments. For various projects I had to prepare samples for TEM-imaging and I had to analyse the obtained data. The main goal in all cases was to determine the size distribution and the monodispersity of nanoparticles. During the last few months of employment I was involved in nanoparticle functionalisation, assay development and kinetics experiments. Additionally to lab tasks, I also had some administrative tasks like ordering chemicals and lab consumables. I was also responsible for the registration of all newly arrived chemicals and for the de-registration of used up chemicals. Moreover, I was involved in the sales of nanoparticles.
