-This is a NIH funded research program based at CSUN, which provides students with full-year undergraduate research experiences while also preparing students for applying and thriving in PhD programs. -The focus of my research in the last year, was to analyze the effectiveness of phytoremediation, with the Brassica Juncea plant, in extracting heavy metal pollutants from contaminated soils. -I monitored the growth of the Brassica Juncea plants, and water them periodically. The soil that the plants are growing in are analyzed for changes in heavy metal concentrations. Show less

-Completed a scientific research project in the Genetics and Epigenetics Lab at the City of Hope. -My research involved analyzing the effects that the PGC7 gene has on X-chromosome inactivation in the gametes of female mice. -Performing cell culture for embryonic stem cells extracted from the blastocysts of the female mice was one of my main responsibilities. -I discovered that the PGC7 gene is involved in gene expressions allowing for the essential X chromosome inactivation process to occur.
