The ultimate goal was to use them for localizing targets by electron microscopy utilizing electron scattering by (high atomic number) gold labels at high resolution. Alina’s strengths include bioconjugation, protein, oligonucleotide, peptide purification, in vitro assays and confocal microscopy. Alina also carried out several biodistribution and pharmacokinetic studies on nanoparticle labeled immunoconjugates at nanoprobes. Her unadvertised talents: a vocalist and a classical dancer too. In summary, Alina was not just one of the colleagues but still is a good friend; her son and my daughter studied together, and her husband and I have common interests – nanoscience and nanotechnology.
