Working at Miyako has improved my communication skills greatly. Working in the food service industry means the customer is always right so problem solving skills were important as well. My duties include making customers bowls, working as a cashier, and sometimes cooking the food as well. Working at Miyako has improved my communication skills greatly. Being a lifeguard and swim instructor at the YMCA helped me develop many characteristics such as leadership, responsibly, and problem solving skills. Being a lifeguard and swim instructor put me in a leadership position at a young age. Being a lifeguard meant I was responsible of my area to make sure everyone stayed safe. With being a swim instructor I was also in charge of instructing young children on how to swim and become better swimmers. Both of these positions required teamwork as well.
