    • Coordinator, Client Services Health Equipment Loan Program (HELP)
      • Sep 2016 - Nov 2019

As the Coordinator of Client Services for the Edmonton HELP Program I have the pleasure of developing, enhancing and evolving a program that provides medical equipment to those in need in the community. The HELP program provides short term loans to clients, which permit them to return home for recovery from injury, illness, or surgery. We are also able to assist clients to spend their final days in the comfort of their own home surrounded and supported by their loved ones as well as those that need assistance with basic mobility to enhance their participation in everyday activities. In this program I have the pleasure of recruiting, on boarding and training volunteers, whose contributions are vital to our operation. I also have the pleasure of overseeing and collaborating with my staff whose passion for the program feeds my enthusiasm. Working the front lines with this program and interacting with clients and volunteers has fuelled my passion for community engagement and permitted me to demonstrate and model client care and community engagement strategies. I have also developed a great deal of knowledge related of the health care field especially as it pertains to patient discharge, continuing care, palliative care, home care and rehabilitation. As the Coordinator, Volunteer Engagement at the Heart and Stroke Foundation my primary responsibilities pertain to the development and implementation of a volunteer program that ensures volunteer engagement and retention while maintaining a symbiotic relationship between Foundation needs and volunteer satisfaction. The duties required for facilitating an effective volunteer engagement program include: determination of organizational needs, creation and implementation of marketing strategies for recruitment, creation and refinement of orientation programs for new recruits, ongoing assessment of existing volunteer recruitment and retention strategies, creation and the development and implementation of policies and procedures designed to enhance volunteer engagement while mitigating foundational risk.In this role my greatest success was the development of a foundation for the volunteer program. What I look upon most fondly about this position are the relationships established with volunteers and provision of opportunities for them to grow and develop and become a part of their community.
