Chief Data Scientist

Mar 2019 - Present
As chief data scientist, my responsibilities include leading teams of data scientists and supervising data science projects. My work frequently involves writing proposals, attending meetings with clients, planning project execution either from a business or a technical standpoint, etc.Following are some of the projects that we worked on at Synapse Analytics:• In the healthcare domain, I was the data consultant working on the marketing campaign for WAYAK, a startup drug delivery service that regularly delivers medicine to customers having chronic diseases. This project is in collaboration with IDH (Integrated Diagnostics Holdings, https://www.idhcorp.com/). We are working with WAYAK to provide added value for them by regularly performing analytics on drug purchases made by customers (e.g. determining churn rates, which medicines are being purchased, customers having which diseases are providing the most profit, association analysis on the purchased items, etc.).• In education, we are collaborating with Nermien Ismail Schools (NIS) to provide better services for students to improve the quality of their academic experience at school as well as preparing them with the skills they need for their college years.• In supply-chain optimimization and logistics, we developed algorithms for P&G to improve their store-sourcing procedure and assist with warehouse location optimization (i.e. determine the ideal number and locations of warehouses required to meet the demands of stores such that the overall cost is minimized).More projects in the "Projects" section below...

The project was under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Can Alkan and Asst. Prof. Öznur Taştan (Computer Engineering department @ Bilkent University).Meanwhile, I also worked as a teaching assistant for an introductory Java programming course.
