    • Intern / Long-term Substitute Teacher
      • Sep 2018 - Jun 2019

During the 2018-2019 School year, I worked at NBFA in the role of a building substitute, tutor and Long-term substitute teacher. During the first half of the school year I acted as a building substitute, gaining familiarity with all grade levels from kindergarten through sixth grade. After winter break, I collaborated with the reading interventionist, general education teachers, academic dean and other staff members to implement additional reading groups to provide necessary tier II intervention support for 21 struggling first-grade students. This program was implemented in January, 2019. For three months I instructed three tier II intervention groups daily. During this time, I had a total of 14 students in these small groups and all of them made significant gains with reading and comprehension. In early April of 2019, I took on the role of a long-term substitute in a first grade classroom, performing all duties of the classroom teacher including: lesson planning, differentiation of tasks, grading using PowerSchool, mid-term reports, parent teacher conferences, grade level team meetings, and end-of-year report cards. • Exhibit & Graphic Designer
      • Feb 2007 - Jul 2018

As a Graphic and Exhibit Designer I was responsible for linking innovative concepts and ideas to broader business development, branding and imaging objectives. How does this relate to teaching? I worked on a team of five designers and love collaboration. As a designer I was responsible to make marketing content understandable to a broad audience. While my audience has changed, my objective is still the same: Make content understandable, make it interesting and make it fun! In addition, I have the computer skills that allow me to make visuals and differentiate for my students. Show less

While this position does not relate directly to my work experience as a teacher, I gained so much time management, supervisory and people skills I felt It important to include it here. It was an experience that truly contributed to the work ethic and dedication I have in all aspects of my life.
