I had the pleasure to study with Alice during the Erasmus Mundus Master Degree in Work, Organizational and Personnel Psychology. We spent together 3 whole semesters between 2015 and 2017. We had the chance to work on different projects together. During those times I saw Alice on a daily basis, while working on multiple tasks, giving presentations and carrying out researches. I can say that my appreciation for Alice is very much beyond the normal expectations I can nurture for an University mate. Alice is extremely smart, totally committed towards excellence and one of the most efficient and effective person I had the chance to work with. She knows what has to be done, she knows how to do it and she does it fast. She plays greatly in team, showing many times potentialities for leadership roles. I very much admire her great communication skills: she has great capacity to get people's attention and at the same time keeping a logical and ordered structure to her thoughts. I am totally sure that most of the teams that will have the luck to work with her would find in Alice an excellent team member. Likewise, companies that will make the clever decision to hire her, will obtain an outstanding member for their organization.

The doctoral thesis is part of a project that is developed in health care centres of “Plena Inclusión”, a nationwide NGO that represents people with intellectual disability in Spain. While working with the centres, one of the key factors that was found to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disability was the cooperation between professional care takers and family members (or legal guardians) of the service users. The partnership between these two groups is often quite complex and goes beyond simple exchanges between service providers and customers. As the cooperation between both parties is a vital aspect to improve the service that leads to a better quality of life for the person with intellectual disability, the challenge of research is to explore the factors that facilitate the relationship between professional care takers and family members. One of the critical factors is interpersonal justice. In this project, interpersonal justice is approached from an intergroup perspective that emphasizes the degree to which two groups treat each other fairly. It is to be expected, that when professional care takers and family members treat each other fairly, their partnership and well-being improves, and consequently a better framework for the care of people with disabilities and their quality of life is generated. Through a longitudinal study with four measurement times, it is intended to test the effect of intergroup justice on cooperation between professionals and family members over time and the improvement in terms of care of people with intellectual disabilities and their quality of life.
