I was among the first ~10 employees at Caption, and led the development of our core product (Caption AI) from concept through regulatory clearance and commercial launch -- our breakthrough AI platform enables any healthcare professional to perform high-quality ultrasound exams for early disease detection, in convenient and lower-cost outpatient settings including patients’ homes. The product was designated as a breakthrough device by the FDA, received a new reimbursement code from CMS (NTAP) and was recognized as one of the Best Inventions of 2021 by Time Inc. As the SVP of Product & Strategy, I was responsible for product management, partnerships, business development and strategy across the organization. Caption raised $65M+ from firms including Khosla Ventures, DCVC and the Gates Foundation. Caption was acquired by GE Healthcare.
