John Castagna

Alfredo is a very bright, talented, motivated, and hard-working geophysicist. He was one of my top guys at Lumina and I hated to see him go. He has only one major flaw - he did his graduate work with Kurt Marfurt at OU instead of with me at UH. Somehow, despite that poor career choice, he has overcome that handicap and become a first-rate seismic analyst. He is also a great team player and a pleasure to supervise.

Alfredo worked in my group during his internship at Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. Alfredo showed a high level of professionalism in his work and he possessed an excellent knowledge base in geophysics. Alfredo worked will with our exploration staff and I believe that Alfredo will become an excellent exploration geophysicist.

I was part of the group of 5 more students that represented OU in this AAPG competition. The data we are using is from North Viking Graben and consist in a 3D seismic survey, 3 wells with well logs (no production data), and the geological tops of the formations at the basin. I am in charge of compiling all the data in a Petrel project; tying the wells with the seismic using the well tops, assist in the interpretation along the seismic lines to generate surfaces and volumes. Finally, after evaluating the risks associated with seismic coverage, basin analysis and possible prospects, we will decide as a group to propose, or not, further drilling operation. Show less
